HP for the Z06 + ZR1 < 1M + M3 + M4 + M5 + M6 + X5M + X6M

Just sayin... I'm no Chevy hater. Own three BMWs (including an M5) and still want to replace my 944 race car with a C5 Z06.

Or S, F, V, R or the like. Lots of single letter performance brands.

When the Stingray gets a ZR1 version, my Jimmies will most definitely be rustled. In a good sense.

Wouldn't it be fair to add the ZL1 and Z/28 Camaros as well? And what about the base (Z51) Vette?

Yeah the Caddy V line is a much bigger problem for BMW than the Z06 and ZR1 are. BMW (sadly) isn't making any true Corvette competitors. They need to bring back the M1 and have a balls to the wall 2 seat sports car.

I guess maybe the i8 or whatever it's called is their new age M1. But it's not the same...

Do you want to buy a 4th bimmer? I have 3 cars and have to sell one (2004 E46 M3 Coupe with 35,000 miles :)

If we start counting the X5 and X6 as real "M" cars the discussion is already over.... I mean seriously that's like we would count a Diesel.

hp is ALOT more (considering that all euro companies underrate their cars), but the Z's are generally faster around the track than the M's

Hey, they're not saying "M is the fastest letter in the world."

Also, why I'm looking to have a Z06 track car and not a M3.

Actually looking to get down to two. The E60 535i might have a new home tomorrow.

Bummer you have to sell a car too. I don't want to do it but it's the only way I can keep my 997.

How did you like the E60? The 535i would be the one I want if I needed a bigger car in the future. Seems like the last of the nimble fives since the new one shares its platform with the 7.

The 535i is a great car: comfy, refined, good power, handles awesome (mine has 275 rears), and has tons of goodies. Some guys have tuned the crap out of that motor and easily get 400HP+. Downside: it's hard to work on due to the new computer system. Everything (including a battery replacement I found) needs to be done at a dealer/authorized service center to update the computer.

When looking for an M5, I drove an E60, but decided on an E39. More fun, easier (and cheaper) to work on, tons of low-end torque (the E60 doesn't come alive until 5500 rpm), and better mileage.

Bummer that everything on the E60 needs to be done at the dealer or authorized service center. That will probably be the case for more and more cars eventually, even non-luxury cars.

If there is enough of a demand, the aftermarket will supply a product to deal with it. Many people thought the same thing when computers started going into cars. Soon after there were plenty of ways to access and modify the programming.

True. That's why it's always safer to buy a car that sells in numbers. You're less likely to have good after market products with very rare cars. Some people don't like bimmers and 911s because they don't stand out due to how common they are. But that's a good thing for owners that want to keep the car long term and do their own maintenance.
